Buckle Up, Buttercup! Seat Belt Campaign

$0.00

Buckle Up, Buttercup!

Here’s the deal—seatbelts aren’t just a rule, they’re your ultimate life hack behind the wheel. Crashes can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime—even the best drivers. But the one thing that instantly gives you a better chance of walking away is that simple click of your seatbelt. It takes two seconds, and it’s the easiest way to keep your story moving forward.

When you buckle up, you’re not just protecting yourself—you’re showing your friends you’ve got their back too. Safe rides mean more late-night hangs, more road trips, and more memories waiting to happen. So, every time you hop in a car—driver or passenger—make it automatic.

Because in Oklahoma, we’ve got big dreams, bright futures, and places to be. And none of that happens without you.

So, Buckle up, Buttercup—Everybody, Every Seat, Every Time!

Use this theme to create an awareness campaign that leads to behavior change in students at your school.

Ideas could include:

  • Launch with an announcement in class, over morning announcements, or at an assembly.

    • Use the intro message (above) to set the tone—upbeat, positive, and focused on protecting your future.

  • Posters: Use the slogan “Buckle Up Buttercup” as your headline.

    • Download and print copies of our poster or make your own! (Poster can be downloaded here - Coming Soon!)

    • Hang posters in hallways, classrooms, and the student commons where everyone will see them.

  • Social media: Try to reach as many as you can on your platforms

    • Share photos of posters and flower giveaways on social media with hashtags like #BuckleUpButtercupOK. And tag us!

    • Challenge other students to like, comment, and share! Keep the campaign relevant!

    • Share because peer influence is powerful!

  • Create and pass out ‘Buttercups’

    • Watch the short video that shows how to take imitation flowers apart and make single flowers. https://youtube.com/shorts/aCLpXzUgDH8?feature=share

    • Attach small tags or notes to each flower with safety messages like:

      • “Friends don’t let friends ride unbuckled.”

      • “Seat belts save stories—yours matters.”

      • “Buckle up, buttercup!”

  • Pass these out during lunch, at events, or in the parking lot after school.

  • Create a list of educational talking points or a script similar to below:

    • “Hey! This yellow flower is your reminder to Buckle Up, Buttercup. Keep it somewhere you’ll see it in your car—like on the dash or clipped to your visor—and let it remind you to click in every time. A seat belt is the easiest way to protect yourself and your friends. So, buckle up, every seat, every time!”

    • Other examples:

      1. It’s the #1 lifesaver and they come standard in your vehicle! Seat belts reduce the risk of death by about 45% in a crash.

      2. It protects everyone. Unbuckled passengers can hurt others in the car during a crash.

      3. It’s quick and easy. One click, two seconds, huge payoff.

      4. Crashes happen close to home. Most accidents happen within 25 miles of home, not just on highways.

      5. Your future matters. Seat belts protect your chance to reach all the big plans ahead.
