Linda Terrell was honored by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office for her tireless work to help decrease the incidence of novice driver crashes and increase driving safety in Oklahoma. "Most people do not realize the enormity of the distracted driving epidemic, which disproportionally hurts and kills young drivers who are learning to drive yet are driving distracted. It can be a deadly combination. The problem is very serious in Oklahoma, where traffic crashes account for 44 percent of all teen deaths. I’m honored to have this important work highlighted and delighted to share my passion to help save lives in Oklahoma”, Linda says in response to the award.

At a luncheon in Oklahoma City during the 2021 Oklahoma Highway Safety Summit she was presented the Tavia Dooley Safe Communities Award. Dooley was a secretary with the Broken Arrow Police Department and was a driving force behind the Tulsa Safe Communities group for several years. Tavia's dedication to traffic safety in her community made her an excellent role model for other community leaders.

“Linda lives a mission of roadway safety and has dedicated years of her professional and volunteer efforts to expanding that mission. Linda is passionate about engaging and educating others. Her enthusiasm is infectious, and she takes on whatever crosses her path to achieve her goals. An excellent example of her dedication and passion was shown through her response to COVID, when she found creative ways to continue the work of Oklahoma Challenge in various communities through online education. Utilizing every opportunity that presents itself, Linda is always working to bring in new partners who share her vision and can help collaborate to make our roadways safer”, Paul Harris, Oklahoma Highway Safety Office Director.
